Dear Mr. Onion…..

Perhaps because I am over 40 and have lived in the US for 6 years now, I am wary of those who promise change but have not outlined what change.  And very possibly that is Barrack Obama’s edge.  He does not state exactly what he has on his agenda for “change”, therefore his opponents cannot dissect and attack his program, hence bogging down the real objective:  winning the Democratic presidential nomination.

I heard him speak (on-line) the other day. Whew! This man has carisma and emotes credibility.  Does this remind me of Pierre Trudeau in 1962?

Trudeau  had been in politics for less that 4 years when he became the Liberal party leader and entered the race for Prime Minister.  He spoke of idealism and youth and and intelligent ways of moving forward.  He was in his forties, just like Barrack Obama:  Here are the facts, here is my vision, here is what this country needs and deserves and here is how we are going to get there.  At the time, Pierre Trudeau changed the fabric of politics not just in Canada but throughout the world.  His was a vision of a dual culture and a society of diversity.  He called it a “Just Society”.  Canada is now an example of multiculturalism.  Not perfect, but it works.  I was a little girl when Trudeau became Prime Minister, but I grew up under the “Trudeau era”.  What a legacy.

Please allow me to believe  that Barrack Obama has the same substance and vision. God knows the USA needs it.
